MINT POLE & AERIALS

Youth Aerial Program

Strength. Confidence. Community. The sky is just the beginning.

A LETTER TO PARENTS

What If the Sport That Changed Everything
Wasn't a Sport You Expected?

When most people hear 'pole and aerial arts,' they picture something far from a children's activity. We get it, and we're here to change that. At Mint Pole & Aerials, we've watched kids walk through our doors unsure, maybe even a little nervous, and leave with their shoulders back, their eyes bright, and a strength in their step that didn't exist before. That's not an accident. That's what aerial arts does. Aerial fitness, whether that's the aerial hammock, the lyra hoop, or the pole is one of the most complete physical activities a child can participate in. It builds real, functional strength from the very first class. It demands focus, coordination, and spatial awareness. It teaches children to trust their bodies and to push through challenge in a way that's encouraging, never punishing.

But more than the physical, it builds something harder to measure: resilience. The moment a child lands their first inversion, completes a sequence they've been working on for weeks, or steps up for the first time in front of their classmates something shifts. They realize they are capable of more than they thought. That realization doesn't stay in the studio. It follows them into the classroom, onto other sports fields, and into how they see themselves.

We built our youth program for your child wherever they are starting from. Whether they've never tried anything like this or they've been flying with us for years, there's a place for them here.

THE WHAT

What Is Youth Aerial Fitness?

Our youth program is built around aerial hammock (fabric sling) as the primary apparatus, with lyra (aerial hoop) introduced as students progress. Classes are structured, progressive, and taught with safety as the absolute first priority.

Each session includes:

  • A proper warm-up and body conditioning sequence

  • Skill instruction with clear demonstration and progressions

  • Guided practice time with hands-on coaching

  • A cool-down focused on flexibility and body awareness

No two classes are identical. Our instructors continually introduce new skills, combinations, and challenges to keep students engaged and growing.

THE WHY

Why Aerial Arts Is One of the Best Things
You Can Do for Your Child

Full-Body Strength

Aerial arts engages muscles that most activities leave untouched — grip strength, core stability, shoulder girdle, and back muscles all develop quickly and naturally. Kids build real, functional strength without a single weight in sight.

Coordination & Body Awareness

Moving through three-dimensional space teaches children proprioception — an awareness of where their body is at all times. This translates directly to better performance in every other sport or physical activity they participate in.

Focus & Discipline

Aerial arts requires genuine concentration. Students learn to listen carefully, follow multi-step instruction, and stay present — skills that carry into academic settings and everyday life.

Confidence That Lasts

There is nothing quite like watching a child do something they were afraid of. Every new skill is a proof point that they are stronger and braver than they thought. We see kids transform — not just physically, but in how they carry themselves — class after class, term after term.

A Supportive, Non-Competitive Environment

Our studio is a judgment-free space. Students cheer each other on, celebrate each other's wins, and support each other through the hard parts. That culture is something we protect fiercely — and something parents tell us they notice immediately.

Creative Expression

Aerial arts sits at the intersection of sport and art. As students progress, they have the opportunity to create sequences, express musicality, and develop their own artistic voice — something few sports offer.

PROGRAM LEVELS

Find Your Child's Place to Fly

Our youth program is designed to meet every child where they are — whether they've never touched an aerial apparatus or they've been training with us for years. Each level has two streams: a foundational stream that welcomes brand-new students, and an Elite stream that continues building on the skills our existing students have already worked hard to earn.

Tiny Mints    FREE

Ages 5–7  ·  FREE Program  ·  Newcomers Welcome

A playful, pressure-free introduction to aerial movement, body awareness, and the joy of being off the ground. Tiny Mints is designed to be fun first — building coordination, listening skills, and confidence through movement exploration.

  • Introduction to aerial apparatus in a safe, supported setting

  • Developing coordination, balance, and spatial awareness

  • Building listening skills and the ability to follow direction

  • Growing comfort and confidence in the air

  • All skill levels welcome — no experience required

Mini Mints    FOUNDATIONAL

Ages 8–10  ·  45-Minute Class  ·  Newcomers Welcome

Mini Mints is the starting point for new students ages 8–10. In a structured but encouraging environment, students begin their aerial journey — learning the fundamentals of movement, safety, and apparatus technique.

  • Basic hammock entries, exits, holds, and poses

  • Introduction to spins and beginner transitions

  • Aerial safety and apparatus awareness

  • Foundational strength, flexibility, and coordination

  • No experience required — all new students welcome

Mini Elite    ELITE

Ages 8–10  ·  45-Minute Class  ·  Existing Students

Mini Elite is designed for our existing Mini Mints students who are ready to build on what they've already learned. This stream introduces more complex sequences, stronger technical expectations, and continued conditioning — a meaningful step forward from the foundational level.

  • Building on foundational skills with increased complexity

  • Longer sequences and more advanced transitions

  • Stronger focus on technique, execution, and control

  • Dedicated conditioning for strength and flexibility growth

  • For existing Mint students progressing from Mini Mints

Junior Mints    FOUNDATIONAL

Ages 11–13  ·  50-Minute Class  ·  Newcomers Welcome

Junior Mints welcomes brand-new aerial students in the 11–13 age group. While the bar is set higher than Mini Mints, this is absolutely a beginner-friendly class — taught from the ground up with age-appropriate progressions and individualized coaching.

  • Advanced sequences and refined technical execution

  • Dynamic transitions and combination work

  • Structured conditioning to build strength and endurance

  • Introduction to artistic expression and musicality

  • For existing Mint students progressing from Junior Mints or Mini Elite

Senior Mints    FOUNDATIONAL

Ages 14–17  ·  50-Minute Class  ·  Newcomers Welcome

Senior Mints opens the door to aerial arts for teenagers who are brand new to the discipline. Teens bring a unique energy and physical capability to the apparatus — and this class is designed to channel that into real, rapid growth in a supportive setting.

  • Foundational aerial technique for brand-new teen students

  • Age-appropriate progressions and challenges

  • Strength, flexibility, and coordination development

  • Confidence-building in a welcoming peer environment

  • No experience required — new teen students always welcome

Senior Elite    ELITE

Ages 14–17  ·  Class Length TBD  ·  Existing Students

Senior Elite is the advanced stream for our returning teen students. This is a high-expectation, high-reward environment where students push their technique, artistry, and physical capacity to new heights — and begin preparing for the next chapter of their aerial journey.

  • High-level skill development and technical mastery

  • Complex combinations, transitions, and choreography

  • Advanced conditioning tailored to aerial performance

  • Artistic development and performance readiness

  • For existing Mint students progressing through the Senior stream

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

What to Know for Your First Class

What to Wear

  • Form-fitting clothing that allows full freedom of movement (leggings, fitted shorts, tank tops)

  • No loose clothing, zippers, buttons, or jewelry — these can catch on the apparatus

  • Hair tied back securely

  • Bare feet or grip socks for the apparatus

Drop-Off & Parents

We welcome parents to stay, especially for younger students. For students ages 8 and up, we gently encourage drop-off when possible — it helps students build independence, strengthens their relationship with their instructor, and keeps the class environment focused on learning. We always save time at the end of class for photos and videos.

Private Sessions

One-on-one private sessions are available for students who prefer individualized coaching, need extra support, or want to accelerate their progress. Contact us to arrange.
